Research Focus
My current research interests fall into two broad strands:

-
How white adolescents within the United States develop their ethnic-racial identity and how this relates to anti-racist attitudes, actions, and commitments in white youth.
-
How processes and factors within U.S. school settings (i.e., teacher pedagogy, curricula, ethnic-racial socialization) support or hinder ethnic-racial identity development and anti-racist praxis.
Additional Interests
Within these two areas of my research, I am also interested in:
-
Investigating measurement questions related to my constructs of interest.
-
Integrating a critical whiteness lens and drawing on scholarship from critical race theory, critical whiteness studies, sociology and other disciplines into my work within developmental psychology.
Methods
I utilize both quantitative and qualitative methods to explore these topics, including but not limited to:
-
Structural Equation Modeling Path Analysis
-
Latent Profile Analysis and Latent Transition Profile Analysis
-
Measurement Invariance
-
Cognitive Validity Interviewing
-
Consensual Qualitative Research
-
Reflexive Thematic Analysis
